The phone rang. I answered.
"Hello?" I said.
"Hey!" a woman responded. "My name's Violet. Is this Dan? If you have a minute I'd like to talk to you."
A telemarketer. I hate them, and I would have hung up, but her voice was so tantalizing. Every word she spoke was like honey and was so soothing to listen to. So I said "Yeah, this is Dan. What's up?"
"Great! This won't take long at all, I promise. I'm calling because of Emily. You remember her don't you?"
Emily was my ex-girlfriend and I indeed did remember her. So that's what I said.
Violet responded "I'm not surprised you remember her after all the heartbreak she put you through. I mean, she fucked your brother behind your back for years. She's just a bitch, isn't she?"
And at this point I was the one surprised because this call wasn't going the way I thought it would. I was thinking of something kind to say about Emily, but I couldn't. She did fuck my brother and she was a bitch. So I answered with a simple "Yes".
Violet said "Do you remember when you walked in on them? They were fucking on your bed, on your sheets. Emily was panting like an animal and your brother was sweating all over her. Bet that scene is burned into your mind."
It was. The day I walked in on them was the worst day of my life. Rage consumed me and I was about an inch away from beating them both to death. I don't know why I didn't. But then I started to wonder how the Hell Violet knew all this about me. "How the Hell do you know all this about me?"
She let out a cute little giggle and I couldn't help but feel a bit aroused. "That's not important. What is important is that I have Emily on the other line. Let me put her on for you."
I was about to protest but before I could speak I heard raspy breathing on the other line. I waited a few seconds before saying "Hello".
The voice on the other end screamed "Who the fuck is that? Who are you? Who the fuck are you?"
"Emily? It's Dan."
"Dan?" She started to cry. "Why are you doing this to me? Why would you-"
And then I heard a soul lacerating scream. It was so loud that for a minute I though I was deaf in one ear. Little by little the scream faded until I heard nothing but what sounded like dripping water. And then Violet was back on.
She said "Did you like that?"
I was about to ask what I was supposed to like, but then it hit me. And I smiled. I smiled the biggest smile I've ever smiled in my whole entire life. I answered "Yes, I did like that."
And Violet giggled again. "That's great! I'm so happy that I could do this for you. If there's anything else please let me know."
"There is, actually. Would you be able to get my brother on the line?"
She said "Definitely", and I could tell that she was grinning. "I could have him on the line tomorrow at 7. Does that sound good?
"Violet, that sounds perfect."
"Fantastic! I'll give you a call tomorrow then. Buh-bye!"
I said "Bye" and she hung up and then I went to bed, eagerly awaiting tomorrow's phone call.
