The sleek black motorcycle rested neatly against the railings by the edge of the gate, winking at me.
"What?!" I said, I'd never been on a motorbike before, I knew no one who rode one. Well, I did now. "You ride that?"
"Hey, don't offend it" Jax said, grinning his sideways grin at me. "Well, come on, hop on" I quickly considered the massive list of possible bad things that could happen to me, plus the factor that if my mother found out, she'd chop me up with her cooking knife, but eventually the need for speed, and the tingling vibes that I was getting from the thought of riding it with Jax won me over. I stepped towards the bike, but heard Isaac calling me before I could get on.
"Uh, I'll be one sec." I told Jax, before running over to where Isaac stood, several yards away. "What do you want?" I asked him as soon as I got close enough to hear his response.
"What are you doing?" He asked. He didn't sound cross, just, concerned.
"Relax, honestly, its just a bike, we're not going far on it." I said, although I had no idea how far we might be going.
Isaacs brow furrowed. "It's not the bike that worries me, its him." He said, there was almost a dark edge to his voice which confused me. Isaac was usually a really easy going guy, who got on with just about everyone he knew. I looked over at Jax, who was leaning casually against the bike, waiting.
"What do you mean? He's nice, honestly."
"I'm not saying he's not nice, its just that... I'm getting bad vibes off him" I wasn't sure whether to laugh or be concerned.
"Why do you think that is?" I asked, curious.
"Hmm, I don't know, hey, what's his Okan?"
I thought about it. "Do you know, I've never asked, I will though, now you've brought it up. Why, do you think that might have something to do with it?"
"Could be conflicting genes" he suggested "Say, if he were a panther too, it could just be linked back to our basic rival instincts." He smiled, light and jokey now.
"Well, I trust him, and anyway, I can take care of myself, nobody would dare to take on me!" I grinned, baring my teeth and fake-punching him on the arm.
He laughed "I don't doubt that for a minute!" I smiled and ran back to Jax, excitement whirling around me.
"Alright then" I said, jumping onto the back of the motorbike and wrapping my arms round his waist "Let's go!" he laughed once, leant forwards in the seat, and slammed on the accelerator. The motorbike growled into life, and we sped off down the street, my hair flying out behind me.
