Shadow

Well, there's no title(yet). I don't want to tell you what it's about, because then you won't have to read it =). But I don't have chapter names or anything, so I'm open to suggestions. It's a long story, so I'll be putting in chapters as I finish them. Thanks for reading!

PROLOGUE

December 12th, 2017

David Penner unconsciously thrust his hand into the air, grasping for something that wasn't there. His eyes peeled wide open for the first time in six weeks; filled with tears for the first time in three years. David's hand, still raised in mid-air, clenched into a fist and the man began to weep bitterly.

David's blue, tear-dotted eyes forced themselves closed, and he had to restrain himself from biting his tongue. The man was bandaged from head to toe in a white cloth, and tied to a metal cot by the wrists and ankles. His anger overtook him, however, and he tore right through his restraints. David screamed an inaudible yell and let his hand fall to his side.

Finally, the figure in the dark corner of the room stirred to life. She grabbed a lab coat from the rack and rushed to the man on the cot's side. He still screamed and shook around violently, but the woman managed to stab his right arm with a tube. A green vial surged frantically through David's veins and, even though he thrust his arm into the air to fight it, he couldn't help feeling weaker. Finally his hand receeded from the air for the last time, and a tear dotted David's pitifully sad face. He let out a silent scream one last time.

"David," the woman whispered. "David, it's okay, it's okay."

David's watery eyes began to open again as he felt the woman's hand on his. He never looked astray from the invisible line he was drawing into the ceiling, however, and the woman at his side began to cry with him.

"David, it's going to be all right now..." Black.
