Share this storyFourth Bell; Afternoon Watch

As nature deals us pounding rain.
Our ragged sails
so wet and frail
yet hold; so tattered hope remains.

Please bell ring.  Please bell ring.

And at the wind's increasing wail
we patch the rips
with tightened grips
and fight for home with tooth and nail.

Please bell ring.  Please bell ring.

I pray deliverance from this trip
lest evil swells
drag down to hell
I beg God save our weary ship.

Please bell ring.  Please bell ring.

Twas then I heard a solemn knell
not death's refrain
hope yet remains,
it was that blessed fourth watch bell.

Ring bell ring.  Ring bell ring.
