I push up with my hands into his chest, throwing him off me.
I stand up as he does and I snarl. "No."
Roaring he charges for me again. I roll my eyes. "Will you just calm down?" I ask, "I don't want to hurt you."
He leaps into the air and throws a kick at me. I effortlessly catch his foot and twist. He spins elegantly in the air then I let go and he falls, landing crookedly on the murky ground.
"See?" I shrug. "Hurting you wouldn't be fun for either of us."
He scrambles again to his feet, more fury in his eyes than I've ever seen in anyone's - even Bella's or Edward's; scarey huh? - and curls his hands into fists.
I chuckle coldly and shake my head, "You really do not; want to do that."
Nahuel growls, "Oh, I think I really do."
I turn my head to see Huilen running off with Nessie drapped crying over her shoulder.
I stand there for a moment. Frozen to the spot, stareing after Nessie and her kidnapper. I couldn’t get my muscles to rush over to her, to save her and make sure she was okay. I'm her protector and I'm not even protecting.
"Nessie!" I hiss and bolt after them, leaving Nahuel to his temper.
This couldn't be happening. No way in a million years could I let this happen. I'd promised. I'd promised Edward, more importantly I'd promised Bella. I was their son, sort of, and I wasn't about to let anything happen to our Renesme.
The wind whips at my hair and blows out most of my thoughts, a numbing pain I'm wishing for. I didn’t want to think about anything, only getting Nessie back to me and us back to her family. I run through the ferns their leaves whipping at my legs.
I have to save her. I have to save my Nessie.
