Kenji and Nana loved each so much, that they made a promise.... on their sixteenth birthday they would become a couple. But everything suddenly changed; Nana family had to relocate due to her father's job. She also had transfer schools... although Kenji was against it, he couldn't garner up the courage to say so. I’m Kenji Kita - a fourteen year old boy who’s going to be fifteen within a few weeks. My childhood friend; Nana is a charismatic female, who’s also fourteen years old… and celebrating her fifteenth birthday within the same week as mine. Nana lived three hundred feet away from me, yet I have always been by her side regardless of how far she lived. I spend all my time making her happy; because she was at her best when she smiled... our parents go way back, so we basically grew up knowing each other. Throughout our childhood, we created memories we cherished. We also created a relationship that we have come to cherish a lot. We had a special bond like no other... we were in sync. When we were six years old, we made a pinky promise that on our fifteenth birthday, we would become lovers. On the beginning of spring… Nana said to me, “Kenji, you make me happy.” Her words contented my heart; mere words could not describe how happy I felt. “Nana, I love you,” I uttered. She glared at me and said, “Sorry Kenji, I cannot accept your feelings yet.” I knew the reason why she rejected my feelings… but I couldn’t help but feel a little sad. “Is it because of our promise?” I inquired of her. “Yes it is. I do not want to break it… so let’s wait,” She replied. I knew she was strict, but I did know she was that strict. “I’m fine with that,” I quipped. My unsettled heart was at peace. Nana suddenly transferred to another high school and had to relocate. Even though I wasn’t happy about it, I still supported her bearing the fact that we would not be together anymore. On the day of her departure… she smiled gaily at me and said, “Let’s make an oath.” My eyes Glimmered, while I replied with a saccharine tone, “Yes… let’s.” Nana emitted a sound like laughter. “When I return, let’s confess our love to each other no matter what,” said Nana, while tears made their way down her cheeks. I kissed her tears away and replied, “I; Kenji Kita, swear to confess my love to Nana Sato when we converge again.” Nana smiled at me once more and uttered, “Bye Kenji, until we meet again.” From that day on-wards, Nana and I have been living our life apart. Even though our relationship came to a stop, our happiness still went on.
