I'm having a very sweet dream. I'm with my mom and we're at the park near my old house. It's back when I was 4 probably. She's pushing me on a swing and I can see her big beautiful smile. Oh how I miss that smile. We're both laughing and fooling around. I don't even think this has ever happened, but I don't care. If this is how I made it in my dream, I don't ever want to wake up. But wait, she's calling my name. She's out far in the grass. I try to run out to her but I feel like I'm in slow motion. She keeps on yelling my name. Repeating it over and over. I'm almost there mom, just wait a little longer.
"Codey . . . Codey . . . Wake up!"
I open my eyes and see Kyle staring at me above my head.
"Good morning star shine, the Earth says hello!" Kyle yelled. Ugh, he just had to ruin my dream. I covered my head with the covers and moaned.
"You ruined my happy dream! Go away," I groaned.
"Aw, well that's too bad," he laughed. Kyle pulled the covers off the bed onto the floor. He jumped on the bed and held me down as I tried to grab the blankets. "You wanna know why? Cause I'm taking you to a really cool day of fun." I stopped struggling and looked at the stupid grin on his face.
"What do you mean by 'day of fun'?" I asked, afraid of knowing the answer. "If you're trying to get me to go to a strip club with you, forget it."
"Heh, no that's not it. I'm taking you to . . ." He stood up on the bed with his arms spread out into the air, "Great America!" I stared at him. Is he serious?
"You're kidding me right? Isn't that place for little kids?"
"Yes and no," he jumped back down to his knees, crushing my stomach. "It's also a great place for dates. So get yer ass off the bed and get dressed." He got off me and ran to the kitchen.
. . . Huh? Did he say date? I sat up quickly and ran after him.
"What do you mean by a date?" I questioned. He dodged me and ran around the table.
"I mean that we are two friends going out on a date. Not necessarily boyfriend boyfriend." I felt kind of depressed at hearing that we are just going as friends. I kept on chasing him, not really knowing why. He tripped over the coffee table he ran into last night. I am really glad we got that table now. I walked over and squatted, head tilted to the side.
"Really? It's not some sort of plan to get me to sleep with you?"
"Yes, it's just a date. That's why I was working over time all week," he said, trying to get up, "I wanted to get enough money for food, tickets, and our passes all together. There food is really expensive for an amusement park." I cant believe he did this for me. Just the thought of him being this kind makes me blush. I punched him in the arm really hard. "Ow! What was that-" Before he could finish, I kissed him on the cheek. He looked at me surprised, shocked.
"I'll go get dressed, wait for about 5 minutes okay?" I said, getting up and grabbing clothes from the drawer. He just sat there with a big smile on his face and hand on cheek. I think today is going to be awesome.
After buying our passes and tickets, we got a map and started walking around.
"So, I think we should grab something to eat first. Then we could go on the small rides and work our way up," Kyle suggested.
"You are such a sissy. No, we're going to eat, then start with the best roller coasters," I stated, "I wanna see how long you can go without barfing." He stared at me for a brief moment, and we both started laughing.
"You are so on!" He yelled. We ran straight for some hot dogs and fries, then we got it down with some giant sodas. After that we headed for the biggest, meanest, roller coaster there was and got in line. We pushed and shoved each other once we got on, at the very front on the coaster. The ride went up, down, side to side, and did a couple of cork screws. Right when you think it's over, it goes backwards. We screamed our heads off! But had a ton of fun. Sadly, none of us threw up, but there were still a lot of rides to go on.
Later on, after all of the roller coasters, spinning rides, photo booths, and food stands, we finally settled down. It was about 11:30 and we were pooped. Kyle and I walked around, eating cotton candy, and carrying a bunch of prizes we won at booths. We got pretty competitive, but still had a lot of fun. Tonight was probably the best day I've had in a long time.
Kyle continually checked his watch, almost every other minute. That seemed pretty strange to me. "What's wrong Kyle, do you have to be somewhere?" I finally asked. He looked at me the looked around.
"No, I'm staying right . . . over there!" he yelled and pointed at a big tree. I had a strange look on my face.
"What, you wanna go sit at a tree?" Now he gave me a strange look. He grabbed my hand and we headed over in the direction he pointed. Oh my gosh! He's holding my hand. This seems kind of awkward but . . . I like it. I didn't notice where we were going until I heard a kid yell 'I wanna go on that mom!' I shook my head and looked up. It was a giant Ferris wheel. I stopped in my tracks. Kyle stopped too and looked at me.
"What's the matter? The line is going to get longer if we don't hurry," he stated. I shook my head no. "What are you chicken?" He was starting to irritate me.
"No, I've never been on one and I'm not going to now." He gave me one of those looks and walked over to me.
"You are going to go on this ride whether you like it or not!" He put me over his shoulder and headed straight for the giant wheel of metal. I started to punch him.
"No! I don't want to, what if it breaks, or gets stuck?" I yelled. Kyle just rolled his eyes and gave the ticket man our tickets.
"Oh stop complaining!" he yelled back. The ticket man stared at us then opened the door to the gondola and Kyle threw me inside. "Thank you kind sir," Kyle said with a big smile on his face.
"Yea whatever, just don't break it," grumbled the ticket man. He didn't seem that happy. Oh how I dislike him for letting Kyle throw me into this death trap.
I sat at the other side of the gondola while Kyle just laughed. I did not find this funny at all. "Just chill okay. You're not going to get hurt," he stated, trying to be reassuring. "Why don't you come sit over here with me? I bet you'd feel a lot better."
"No I don't want to-" The ride started to move and I yelled. Being terrified, I jumped over to Kyle's side of the cart. His eyes ere wide and he laughed even more. "Shut up! I hate you for bringing me on this ride." He made a motion like he got stabbed in the chest.
"That hurt. But you will love it! I promise, just calm down a little," he said calmly. Kyle put his arm around me and brushed his hand threw my hair. It was surprisingly calming. The ride continued to go around and around. I decided to look out the window, slowly, and saw the whole park.
"Wow, this is so cool!" I gaped. Kyle chuckled.
"I told you so." I glared at him then looked out again. It was so big, and you could see the stars so clearly. And just as soon as I was getting used to the moving ride, it jolted to a stop. To make it worse, we stopped at the very top.
"Oh no! I knew it, we're stuck, I knew it!" I whined.
"Calm down, the ride always stops at some point. I'm so glad I chose this one cause now we're at the top!" he said, excited. I calmed down a bit more knowing that this was normal. Kyle looked at me with such strange eyes.
"What? Do I have something on my face?" I asked, rubbing my face. He grabbed my hand and moved it away from my face.
"Nope, nothings on your face." He continued to look at me.
"Then what is it! What are you staring at?" I yelled, getting irritated. He moved closer to me, still holding my hand.
"You, before I wake up from this dream," he said, with a cheesy smile. It was kind of him to say that but, that was bad.
"Wow, that was . . . a really cheesy line," I laughed. He chuckled as his face turned red.
"Well, how about this?" He put his hand on the back of my neck, leaned in, and kissed me. Just as he did, fireworks were shooting off near the parking lot. This was just like in some manga books I read, and it felt amazing. His kiss was so tender, and not rough like the first time. When the ride started to move again, we stopped and looked at each other. His eyes were a charming green. Kyle smiled and backed up a little.
"How'd you like that? I'm so glad that I timed that perfectly," he laughed and put his arm around me. I just sat there, dazed. This was definitely the best day of my life. But I had to confirm something first.
"Wait, I thought we were on a date as just friends?" I questioned, hoping to here other wise. He turned and looked at me with a serious face.
"Sorry, but I cant be friends with you." I was stunned. My heart sank, completely shocked. "That's why I wanted to make this date clear to you … that I really like you." What? When the ride came to a stop, Kyle stood and held out his hand. "Codey Spotwood, will you be my boyfriend?" I stared at him for a while. Thinking. He is such a jerk for scaring me like that.
"Yes I will, Kyle Orton," I answered while grabbing his hand.
