I Wanted To Cheer You UpMature

5 minutes left til' schools out for Spring break. Kyle and I are trying to hurry up and finish cleaning up so we don't have to stay after school for long by putting towls on our feet and gliding on the floors. I admit, this job is hard work, but Kyle knows how to make it really fun. As we finish up the last hallway, we can hear the students counting down the last minute of school. We run to the janitors closet to get out of the work clothes, counting down. 5 . . . 4 . . . 3 . . . 2 . . . 1!

Ring!!!

Everybody is running out of the class rooms when we get out of the closet. We were slightly devistated. The students were throwing paper all over like school was done for good. We looked at each other knowing we had to clean this up. As we had our heads down going back to the closet, the principal stopped us.

"Where are you two going with your heads down like that? Schools out, it's vacation!" She said proudly, with her arms out. Her name was Ms. Avery Carter and she used to be a teacher here at Atlas but got promoted to principal last year. She was really cool but acted like a child sometimes. The vice principal, Gregg Kordecki, usually had to watch over here to make sure she didn't loose her composure. He always wears suits, glasses, and has short black business hair. Gregg is very strict but will only give in to Avery. There was a rumor that she acts like a child because she likes Gregg. But nothing has been confirmed yet.

"We have to clean up the hallways now that everyone dirtied them again," Kyle replied, staring at Ms. Carter's hair. She was quiet pretty with her curly brown hair but I could care less. I elbowed Kyle in the stomach. "Ow, what?" Kyle looked at me and Ms. Carter laughed.

"Well, it looks like you two have other things to do. I'll have the older janitors do it since you two have been working so hard for the past 3 weeks," she said. Then, out of nowhere, the vice principal comes up from behind Ms. Carter.

"Ms. Carter, let them clean up, that is their job anyways." He wasn't a very kind person.

"Oh who cares, it's break, let them have some fun!", she retorted, batting her big brown eyes. Mr. Kordecki sighed and gave in.

"Okay, okay. You two go off and have fun. But you guys are going to clean the teachers bathroom when you get back." We looked at each other, shivering.

"Uh, okay . . . Thank you Mr. Kordecki," Kyle and I replied, in sync. Ms. Carter hugged Mr. Kordecki.

"Thanks Gregg! Now, lets go have some drinks!" He blushed and pushed up his glasses.

"Uh, n-no problem. But no drinking for you."

"Aw, why not!" Ms. Carter whined.

"Because you cant hold your liquor, and last time you went off kissing everyone in the bar. . ." He seemed a little jealous.

"You big meanie!" She punched him in the arm, moving him slightly. We didn't want to stay for their flirting and decided to leave. As we walked away, we heard her challenge Mr. Kordecki to a drinking contest. We ran down the hall really fast so they couldn't hear us laughing.

As we rode the bus back to the apartment,  I remembered the last couple weeks of school. People are still making fun of me from getting dissed by Craig. Even though Kyle stops them just by glaring at them, I keep on getting stupid letters in my locker and stuff. I've never showed them to Kyle because he might try to hurt them. No, he will hurt them. So I've just been brushing it off like nothings happened. Kyle has been so nice to me, so I don't want to ruin it by him getting in trouble.

"Are you ok? You look kinda down,"Kyle asked. I just noticed that he was really close to my face.

"Can you get out of my face," I asked, pushing him away. "And I'm fine, I'm just really hungry. Lets stop at that noodle place down the street."

"Okay Mr. Pushy." We got off the bus and went to have some bowls of noodles. Of course he paid. After that, we went home, played some video games, and layed down on the bed. I stared up at the ceiling, suddenly remembering that one morning. Kyle looked at me, watching my expressions.

"Why are you making those faces?" he asked.

"No reason," I turned my head to face him, "Why are you watching?" His eyes went wide and his face turned red.

"No reason," he said, starting to get off the bed. I jumped up and pulled him back.

"What, you've seen my expressions before. Are you embarrassed?" I laughed, mockingly. I pinched his cheeks and he yelped in pain. I laughed so hard that my stomach started to hurt.

"Now that's the real you," he chuckled, rubbing his cheeks. I looked at him confused. "You weren't acting like yourself. So I wanted to cheer you up, even though I got hurt in the process." I stared into his face. He is really a kind person.

"So, what do you want to do for our Spring break? I was thinking of visiting my grandparents and maybe we could hang out at the mall, see a movie or something." Kyle sat up and looked out the window.

"Well, I'm going to be working at the convenience store so I won't have much time to hang out," he sighed, "Sorry, work starts today actually so I have to go. See ya." He rubbed my head, grabbed his jacket, and walked out the door. I just sat there on the bed, speechless.

"What the fuck just happened!" I threw my self back on the bed and thought. Well, it seems like he's only going to be doing night shifts considering how late it is. So we can always hang out during the day I guess. I layed on my stomach and burried my face into  pillow. Everything was fine, it's not like I have to see him 24/7. Even so, I felt like I we needed to see each all the time. . . Wait! What am I saying! I'm not his boyfriend or anything. Ugh! I just need to give him his own space, we have been seeing to much of each other anyways. I turned my head towards the door and fell asleep.

The End
