Scaring Joshua

For those of you who don't know, I'm a horror writer. Now, one of my friends has just informed me that he has never been scared by a story. Challenge accepted. This is my first try...This'll be fun...

He saw it out of the corner of his eye, just scuttling along the floor, dragging its ass along. Those spindly black legs carried it, a little bit of web still sticking out from its rear end. Joshua watched it, eyes wide, as it drew nearer to his bed. The arachnid seemed to be smirking at him, taunting him, as if asking, "Is big boy Joshie afwaid of wittle old me?"

Joshua whimpered, afraid to look away, because he knew that if he did...the spider would be gone. To where, he wouldn't know. That was what frightened him. The urge to blink was killing him, his eyes sore already after a few seconds, and the spider seemed to recognize that. In that moment, the spider sat down and tapped its leg and seeming to be smirking. "I'll wait for you," it hissed, and Joshua heard it. That voice. The one that rang in his head ever since.
