Salzburg reprise
Unexpected alpine storm blows up from the south east
Rain plummets earthwards from unknown heights above the stodgy baroque spires
It's gathered water splutters fresh from gutters onto pristine streets
but lurking in the shadows of monumental arches and pillars
are the forgotten, ignored, dropped out youth of Austria
forced to join them in the shadows we tourists cower from the rain
shivering at the unexpected cold and damp the summers day has forced upon us
we gaze through dripping sunglasses at the running waters on the platz
trying to ignore the helpful sign written in poor english on the wall
TOURIST INFORMATION:
BETTER IF YOU GO BACK
WHERE YOU ARE FROM
TOURISTS + TERRORISTS
the loud belches and coughs from behind us seem to undeline the call
so we clutch our cameras tighter and talk (As only the English can) about the weather
