Running For Murder

Kimber fled across the road and disappeared into the trees. His muscles screamed and his breath gasped in his throat as he stumbled over the uneven ground. He dropped the bloody knife and scrubbed blindly at his hands, blinking sweat and tears from his eyes.

Screams echoed behind him. Kimber fell to his knees and wept brokenly in the sparse undergrowth. Once his tears had run dry, he heaved himself to his feet and started to run again.

Finally, on the peak of exhaustion, Kimber collapsed and lay limply on the wet grass. Darkness closed around his body and his vision slipped away
