I'm still running

An hour later.

My lungs feel like

They're going to burst,

I'm breathing

I stop to sit down,

Because I can't

Keep going like this.

I lean against an old

Maple tree,

Happy to rest.

The tree reminds me

Of a time when I was

A little kid,

Of the danger

My parents were always in.

Hide and seek

With my dad --

Hiding behind a maple tree

Waiting for him to find me.

The only memory.

If only he was here now

He would help me,

Know how

To get me out

Of the situation.

And without realizing it,

A small tear

Glides softly

Down my face.

The End
