Inspired by the song "Rockets Fall on Rocket Falls" and "Dead Flag Blues" by Godspeed! You Black Emperor.
A moment of silence was the last sound heard. It was only a matter of time. The sirens flared their nasty flare. The smooth hollow whistle came next as the shells rained down in front of my eyes. The skyline looked beautiful on fire. The clouds grew in a thick orange haze. Buildings tumbled in on themselves. Lovers embraced, fathers protected, and mothers held tight to their babies. Here I stood, atop the red carnage, atop the red glare. Our time had come. Like an overdue book we returned from the place we came, and the dues were pained for our extensive absence. It brought comfort to know that the end was near. I could feel the heat rush over me. Yes this was truly the end. the hairs on my neck shot up as that orange haze drew closer. I could hear the trumpets song now. The heat was unbearable as I stood in the skyline. This was the moment.
