It’s been weeks since Clarisse began ignoring Reyna, and Reyna seems to be over Clarisse. I almost felt disappointed in Gale: she wasn’t the girl I used to know. We had been good friends since Primary, and we were both happy about going to the same school. But, recently, she’d changed. I knew that was natural, but it caught me off guard. I guess we all have to stop living in the past and try our best to move on.
Reyna, our friend Rhona and I are entering the music contest as a group. Maybe something like this will take Reyna’s mind off Clarisse even more. Anyway, it’s five minutes until our audition and the nerves are setting in. We’ve practised a few times, but I still wasn’t sure if that was enough. “I’m so scared!” Rhona whispered to us.
“Don’t worry,” I replied, “We’ll all be fine.” We were the first to go, and as we sung we relaxed more and more. Finally, our music teacher said, “Fantastic performance, girls! I will let you know soon whether you are through or not, but between you and me I don’t think you have anything to worry about.” Once we were out of the room, all three of us high-fived and cheered happily. As we walked through the gates, we discussed song ideas for the next round (if we got through). Reyna had been smiling a lot lately, and that was the way I wanted to keep it. It seemed that now she was on a happier path and moving on.
