“What are you doing?” he asked as he put the clothes on.
“I'm packing. We have to leave. This place is compromised. I imagine everyone will be getting away over the next couple of hours.”
“Where are we going?”
“I don't know yet, I just know that we have to get out of here.”
The door opened and Beth came in. “Can I go with you?” she asked.
“Of course. Go get your stuff, everything you need. We won't be coming back here.”
Beth nodded and rushed out.
Zeke began to put weapons in the bag as well, several knives and a couple of guns, but kept his own dagger with him. He'd placed his blade on the top of the drawers, and now saw that it had a lot of blood on it. He sighed internally.
Once he was finished, he went over to his bedside table and knelt down, opening the door of it to reveal the safe. He put in the code and pulled the door open. Inside was money separated into thousands, in case of emergencies. And this was what he deemed an emergency. He grabbed a couple wads of it, pushing them into the bag as well before zipping it up.
“How much is that?” Caelan asked.
Caelan nodded and said nothing else for a few moments.
“What was it you wanted to give me earlier?” he asked.
Zeke tensed. “Nothing important.”
“Are you sure?”
Caelan seemed to accept this. It wasn't anything particularly important, not really. He was saved from any further questioning when Beth walked back in.
“Ready?” he asked her.
She nodded. He pulled a t-shirt on and slung the bag over his shoulder. He got the dagger and wiped it on his leathers before slipping it into the waistband. He reached for Caelan's hand and pulled him out of the room, Beth following. In the corridor, the bodies had already been cleared away and no one stopped them.
Walking down the corridor and into the cleaning cupboard, they entered the strip club. Zeke scanned the crowd for any threats, ignoring the girls that were wandering around with few clothes on. He pulled Caelan and Beth through the club to the back exit. He handed the bag to Caelan and stepped back a little.
“Go out to the car.”
“No, go. I'll be there in a second.”
After looking at him for a moment, Caelan nodded and ducked out with Beth.
Zeke leant back against the wall. He just needed a minute alone to work out where the hell they were going to go. He went through his options silently. He sighed and opened the door, heading out.
