“So... we’re not going yet?” Beth asked her.
She shook her head, her eyes still glued to the TV. “Not yet. Need to get changed first anyway.”
“I’d like to sleep before we go.”
“Shall I wake you up before we need to go?”
Beth stood, leaving Isabella to the television. She went to her room and sat on the bed, looking around the room. She spotted her phone on the bedside table and crawled over to it. She sat with her legs crossed and scrolled through the contacts list. She stopped when she reached Robert’s name. After a short pause, she dialled it, though she wouldn’t have been able to explain why.
It immediately went to voicemail.
“Well, I’m either ignoring you right now, or with Beth. I’ll ring you back later so don’t bother trying again,” said Robert’s voice, making her smile; it was such a typical thing for him to say.
She listened to it again and again, eventually falling asleep.
When she woke, Isabella was standing over her, shaking her shoulder gently.
“Do we need to go now?” Beth asked, sitting up.
“There’s just time to get changed. We need to leave in ten minutes,” Isabella said, sitting down on the bed and glancing over somewhere near the door.
Beth followed her gaze, seeing Aaralyn holding an array of dresses.
“We need you to fit in while you’re in the Dimension,” Aari said by way of an explanation, grinning.
Beth shuffled over to the end of the bed, sitting with her legs under her.
Aaralyn showed her the dresses one at a time. One was a dark green colour, with lots of lace around the neck and hems; another was a simple white with a flared waist that was ruffled at the back; the third was carmine red with sleeves that came to the elbow and a floor length skirt; the final one was midnight blue and skin tight all the way to the knees, where it flared out.
“You want me to pick one of these?” Beth asked, raising an eyebrow.
Aaralyn grinned and shook her head. “These are all for you.”
