Ellie's sudden leap into my arms was more than a little unexpected. She's not a big girl, but she's heavier than she looks and I'm not exactly in the best of states. Still, her weight is warm and comforting. I bury my face in her hair, a few soft strands tickling my nose. I hear someone titter nearby and put Ellie down, only to find Aries and Illiana stalking off in the other direction. I make a rude sign at their backs, Ellie snickers.

"You really don't like them do you?" she asks. I make a face.

"I'd say the feeling's pretty mutual on that front."

Ellie rolls her eyes, suddenly serious. "We're going to have to make an effort to get on with everyone you know. We can't cause divides here, just because we're different.

"I know. But that doesn't mean I have to like it. I'm going to be bored out of my mind when you're off training."

"No you won't, I'm sure there'll be plenty for you to get up to."

"Saggitarius!" comes a voice. Ellie steps back as another of the zodiacs approaches, a tall woman.

"Yes?" asks Ellie. The woman smiles.

"It is time to begin your training. Keep your bow with you, you might need it later. Now come, there is much to do."

Ellie nods and gives me a quick hug before following the woman out. Her consort steps back and lets them go, a small smile on his face as he watches the woman move off. He looks to me next, scanning me more in curiosity than suspicion.

"Hmph." he says. "You don't exactly look all that villainous."

"Appearances can be decieving." I reply, a little more sharply than I mean to. The other consort just laughs.

"You have attitude I see? You're going to need it here, Aries will not be the only one who disagrees with your presence. Aquarius and I have been on the council for a long time and are willing to accept change, but some of the younger ones ... they still need to get their heads around it."

I sniff irritably, but keep my mouth shut. Aquarius' consort looks at me for a few more moments, then moves off, leaving me along outside the hall, chewing my lip and thinking. My presence is making things difficult for Ellie - far more difficult than it needs to be. Dammit, if only it were simpler. I bet they wouldn't have made such a fuss if she's chosen Eric. I wonder what he's doing back on Earth ... probably panicking that both Titan and I have vanished and left him alone to deal with Melody and Lynette. I snicker at the thought. Although I no longer hate the boy with quite so much passion as I used to, the thought of him being chewed by Melody still makes me laugh.

I sigh and move off, deciding to inspect this new place on my own while Ellie trains. After all, I have to amuse myself somehow, don't I?

The End
