Ben walks out of the interrogation room and watches one of the officers try to calm Geoffrey down. He is frantic about the news he had just learned about his deceased brother. Frank comes out of the other room and looks at Ben and shakes his head.
"I'll find those mother fuckers!! I'll chop them into pieces!! They killed my brother!! They killed my-" Geoffrey's anger tapers off into sobs of defeat and he kneels down against the wall while the two police officers stand by him. Suddenly, come walking down the hallway was Devin's ghost.
"Geoff!! I'm here!! Stop crying, fool!" He walks up to him and gets down on one knee.
Geoffrey continues to cry. "He was stupid but he didn't deserve this! No one deserves that!"
"I don't understand. Look at me, Geoffrey! I'm here!" He tries again to get his attention.
"I'm sorry for your loss. If you know anything else, please tell us. We are here to help!" One of the officers tell him and puts his hand on Geoff's shoulder.
"I don't know anything else. He talked about a side job of his... He probably owed them something and took his life for it," Geoffrey starts to calm down but still with teary eyes. "I don't know their names or anything. I'm sorry."
"It was Decker! I was working for Decker! They thought I killed him, brother! So... wait.. I'm dead? I'm freaking dead! Ah, what the fuck!?" Devin looks at his hands. "That's why you're not answering me!!"
Ben stands there listening still and stares at Frank. He walks up to Frank and whispers in his ear that Geoff's brother is here. He tells him that he just confirmed that this was related to Decker.
"Follow me, Devin." Ben hides his words with a cough and looks at Devin. He repeats it, hidden again.
"What? You can see me? Who are you?" Devin gets up and follows Ben into the interrogation room and Ben closes the door behind him. "What is going on?"
"Shh, Devin. Do you remember who did this to you?" Ben asks.
"A man and a woman. I was at club Bash and this lady I think slipped something in my drink. All I remember after that was waking up briefly in some kind of operating room and then I saw myself on a table while they were taking out my heart."
"Do you know any reason why they chose to do this to you?"
"I used to work for Decker. Some of his guys are trying to figure out who did him in. Either the people who took him out got me, or his buddies hired someone to do me in. I don't know. I was just at the club trying to make some sales... I am, er was a dealer for Decker."
"What did you deal?"
"Drugs, guns without permits, and such. I was working my way up Decker's ranks. He was going to introduce me to a higher bit of his business but they killed him off. All I had left was the rest of the product he had me selling to live on. I swear I was gonna go clean after that, man!"
"It's alright. It's not like I can have you arrested or anything," Ben shrugs.
"What do I do now?" Devin asks.
"Whatever you want, I suppose. Have you seen the light?"
He nods, "I wasn't ready. It spoke to me without words. It felt so inviting. But I had to see my brother."
"I understand. You can summon that light if you think about it hard enough. Or you can stay here and protect your brother. It's up to you," Ben replies.
"How do you know so much? How can you talk to me? Are you some kind of medium?" Devin asks.
"I'm not sure what to call myself. But, I am a private eye. A detective," Ben tells him.
"Ah, that's a cool mix, yeah?"
"You could say that. It has it's drawbacks. God speed, Devin. I've got work to do."
Devin nods and goes through the door to follow his brother out the precinct.
Ben walks out to see Frank, "Can you do me a favor?"
"What's that, Benny?" Di Angelo says.
"Can you go to the morgue and check out Devin's body while I go to club Bash and see if anyone there seen anything?"
"Yeah, sure I got your back. Be nice to get out of this building for a little." Franky answers.
