Powerless
I gazed out of my car seat window wondering if I would ever see anything but trees at this cottage we were traveling to. Oaks, Ferns you name it but thats all I could see, trees. I turned my head away from the never-ending hoard of trees dotted around the countryside around me and focused on the insides of the car. My family consisted of your average British civilians. My two brothers Aidan and Andrew(Andy for short), my parents boring and predictable and then there was me, their eldest daughter. My parents were both so alike, both have brown hair and brown eyes and they are interested in only one thing, the outdoors. Hiking, walking, cycling anything that could be done outside would be done outside much to my disapproval.
Aidan is possibly the most annoying cretin that has ever walked the Earth, he didn't bother me so much but he tortured Andy, always making fun of his glasses or his asthma. Andy was born with multiple medical conditions which has made his life hell, I've always had a soft spot for him, a constant need to protect him. I looked down at myself, I myself was pretty ordinary my name is Annie and although I hate to admit it I was a posh girl who went to private school. My eyes are lush green which I always hated as the rest of my family had smooth dark brown eyes. I am also quite opinionated which was why i didn't have many friends as i always pointed out there flaws.
I heard the loud *BLEEP* of my Ipod which indicated it was running low on power so I turned it off and tried to start a conversation
"Where are we Dad? We gotta be nearly there right?" I said
"Well, where about half way, and we are currently in the village of Bucksdale just on the border of Scotland" my Dad replied
"Great half way, another 4 hours to go" I said with a sarcastic tone.
I returned to glaring out of the window, at first I thought this village was full of people until I realized that none of them were moving
"Eh Dad whats wrong with these people"
"OH there not people, this town is famous for having the largest scarecrow collection in the world" my Dad replied
"Cool" said Aidan
I looked again and saw that he was right. My Mam -who was driving- started to slow down so that we could see them properly. It was clear that a lot of effort had gone into each scarecrow the details on their faces really did make them look lifelike. My brothers started pulling faces at them.
"Stop being so immature" I scoffed but soon started pulling faces myself. I stuck my tongue out at the a particularly ugly scarecrow until I saw him move
"Agh" i screamed "Mum drive its alive"...
