If it's fear that Ena felt, that really meant something was wrong. The way the boys looked at her with undeniable anger didn't hurt her emotionally because she didn't even know them. She'd been on the receiving ends of such looks by society for such a long time. Yet, her heart pounded furiously against her chest and she began to take a few steps back.
Ena never withdrew from the battle.
As she started to walk away, she could hear the silent footsteps of the boys behind her, following her very closely. It made her want to break into a run but she scolded herself in her head. This is crazy. It's not like they're going to kill you. Just calm down.
Yet something about the looks in their eyes had just been off. She felt they had the intention to hurt her, more than most people did. And that's what scared Ena the most.
