As the silence wore on, Daphne grew restless inside and hoped Camden would say something, urgent to hear only just a word even. She opened her mouth to provoke him when he interrupted her.
"How did you know?"
Daphne blinked, glancing over her shoulder at Camden, meeting a rather pensive expression written across his face. His eyebrows were scrunched together, and he chewed on his lower lip, meeting her gaze curiously.
She knew what Camden intended the question towards but she didn't know how to answer back. Instead, she settled with a shrug.
"I just did."
And that was the raw truth of it. All Daphne had done back there had been to follow her instincts; her instincts had told her to reach down to the Earth.
The questioning expression on Camden's face did answer her deepest most fear. Maybe Daphne really wasn't normal. Maybe there was something seriously wrong with her.
She just didn't know what it was. How much she wished she could.
