"So, are you ready or not?" She asked in a surprisingly up-to-beat tone.
Camden's smile wobbled and he shrugged, slipping his hands into his front pockets, nodding unsurely. Daphne's smile widened as she gestured towards the north and started walking ahead. She knew that Camden would follow, he didn't really have a choice.
He was positively lost and she knew that getting even an inch of hope through the intuition of a stranger might as well be given a chance. That's why the rustle of the leaves on the surface of the Earth made Daphne smile; he was following her.
She led the way through the forest, twisting through different pathways and past several trees. Daphne had a sense of direction. Her feet knew where to go. She didn't have to glance over at Camden to know that he doubted her but just the fact that he was following her was enough to keep her going.
Carefully stepping over another thick root, Daphne turned around to face the tall and familiar looking willow tree. It was from her memory...she'd seen it before. And she knew, she was certain, that just a few feet ahead of her was Camden's house.
