Fear slapped her across the face, but she covered it with one of fury as she let go of his hand and took a step back, her green eyes reflecting hate as she glared at Kai.
"You know what? Forget about it. You're just a waste of time. I don't even know why I responded to you in the first place."
Grabbing her bag, she moved past Kai, squeezing her way through without even touching him. What had he said that made her react that way? Kai felt confused as he watched her make her way down the bleachers, her expression distorted into one of irritation. She hated him.
Sighing, Kai plopped back down on one of the seats. He let his head fall down onto his hands as he cursed himself in his mind. If only he could have been 'smooth' with her - maybe this wouldn't have happened.
But that comment about the fire had really twitched a nerve. Maybe she was hiding something. But it was too late to ask her now.
