Kai - Slippery Introductions
His t-shirt clung to his torso, as beads of perspiration were absorbed into the thin material of the cotton top. Fanning himself with a small paper construction he'd made, Kai squinted as he looked over at the football field. The game was just about to begin but it felt like he'd been sitting here ages, waiting for it to start.
I wish someone could invent outdoor air-conditioning.
He laughed at the lame joke he'd thought, shaking his head to himself. Why had he agreed in coming here in the first place? Oh, that's right - it had been ages since Kai had left the refines of the academy and he'd jumped on the idea of a field trip.
But he should have taken a look outside before agreeing to it. Sighing, he leaned back against the plastic seat as he focused on the players on the field. One of them caught his attention. A girl, who he assumed must be sixteen or seventeen. The sun reflected off her dark red hair, making it appear brilliantly bright.
She was talking with one of her teammates, a smile hinted at her lips. Kai's gaze didn't waver off her but the sound of the whistle distracted him.
