Chapter VI (Part Two): Kai - Ripples on the Surface ☵

Kai got ready for the school day; taking a quick shower, changing into suitable clothes and packing his bag as fast as he could. He had his last mid-term exam today at exactly half past twelve. His eyes flickered to the clock which read ten a.m. Even though he had only one main task to finish off, it would still be quite busy day for him.

Hauling his bag over his shoulder, Kai left his room, locking the door behind him before dropping the key into his pocket. He had his umbrella in hand, though he wasn't quite sure how effective it would be against the shards of rain falling from the sky.

Kai's schedule ran through his mind - he still had two and a half hours till his exam would begin. He'd been planning to go to the library and do some revision using the practice books they had. But now, he wasn't feeling too sure.

The entrance lounge of the residence was empty, without a soul in sight. Everyone was too busy enjoying themselves. Most of the students had finished their exams, with only a few left to toil a little longer. Kai was one of those few.

Sighing, he made his way towards the front door, opening it slightly to peek outside. Hail beat down hard, like sharp shards of ice from the sky. The umbrella would be no proper cover for him - it would probably tear right through the fabric.

Biting down on his tongue, Kai thought: What am I going to do?

The End
