of Fire in the Dark
You set a fire in the dark of the night,
Red-white bloom, of blinding and consuming light.
That forged me, glowing, robbed me of sight,
A callous and demanding, searing blight.
Let me go.
Please.
Let me not look again into your light.
Let me creep away and hide from your sight.
Let me go again into the dark of the night.
The peace and coolness, the comfort of night,
To heal my hurt.
My night.
