In Any Light
In any light we burn to break the hold of dark
So mystery is laid in shadows black and stark
And if a candle-flame is set against the breeze
These falter, flutter, and almost seem to breathe
A living beauty, poignant and fleeting
That vanishes in Sun’s bright greeting,
And must wait, the world around,
Til dusk again gains the silent ground.
