"Where are we going?" I asked in my light, accented tone.
"My lady." said the stranger. We were aboard a ship, and I could see an island only a few leauges ahead. I sighed, and leaned over the side to look at the water. He refused to elaborate.
Finally we reached to the island, and I thankfully stepped onto dry ground. I brushed some dirt off of my light frock, and started running up the beach. A huge palace sat atop a hill.
"My lady, Princess Helen!" I heard. I turned around, and watched as the men from the ship ran after me. I laughed, and ran farther up. I flicked my slippers off, and finally reached the palace gates. I pushed at the heavy gate, and finally it opened. I ran inside, and almost into two people standing at the foot of a grand staircase.
"Princess Helen." one said. "I am Kohei, and I will show you to your room in the Palace."
"I- I'm Steven." said the boy standing beside Kohei, who turned to him.
"Not a word from you, boy!" Before he could deliver more punishment, I interceded.
"Please, as a princess, I demand that you treat Steven with more respect." I said, calmly. Kohei's face went red. He stormed ahead of me, leading me up the staircase and to a room.
"Your bedroom." he said. I opened the door, and was surprised to see ornate furnishings and a wardrobe, open and already full. I danced inside, and before closing the door, threw a quick smile to Steven.
I went to the balcony, and saw many other balconies around mine. And on one, another girl was standing. I laughed, and she looked over.
"Hello!" I said. "How are you today?" My eyes, good as they were, could make out distinct facial features. "I am Helen!"
"I am Princess Ami."
"Ami, then! Would you like to go to the garden? I can meet you there, much better than shouting across balconies."
"Alright, I will see you there." I disappeared into my room, and picked a nicer dress to wear. It was a beautiful light orange, rather than the green one I had been wearing. Whistling, I went to find the garden, which I had seen on the way to my bedroom. I went out a door, and saw Princess Ami.
"How are you?" I asked. "Seeing as we are stuck together on this piece of rock in the middle of the ocean." I smiled.
