Chapter 6Mature

I walked through the front door and found my mother’s arms around me.

“Oh honey I was so worried about you.” She said through fake sobs. I looked at her friends sitting around the living room starring at us.

“Oh, you worry about me when your friends are around. I see.” I thought.

“It’s only midnight mom you let me stay out way later than this.” I stated.

“No I don’t I worry about you too much to do something like that.” She held me close and whispered in my ear. “If you say anything that makes me look like a bad mom you won’t see your dad this summer.”

Mom really knew how to play with people’s heart strings. Stupid law school, why do you teach people these things? I played along with the act.

“I’m sorry mom, I’m going to my room right now to think about what I did.” I walked past her into the kitchen grabbed leftover Chinese from the fridge, heated it up in the microwave, grabbed a fork and a frappe, then went upstairs. Gabby walked out of my room as I approached it.

“What the hell were you doing in my room?” I asked.

“Looking for something new to where tomorrow. The only problem is you dress like white trash. You’re an embarrassment to everyone in this house. Just look at you.” I smiled then punched her in the arm as hard as I could. I ran into my room, shut the door, and locked it. I changed into a pair of blue checkered pajama bottoms and a tank top, and fell asleep the second my head hit the pillow.

The next morning I awoke to the banging on my door.

“Molly wake up and get down stairs! I have important news!” I heard my mom say.

I got up slowly walked into my closet, and grabbed the first thing I saw (red and black plaid skirt, white t-shirt with a black sleeveless cardigan on top.) I walked into the bathroom took a long shower, got dressed, scrunched my hair, and started down the stairs.

When I got downstairs Gabby and my mother were both smiling.

“What?” I asked.

“I’ve got six new cases in Philadelphia this week.”

“Congratulations.” I muttered sarcastically.

“I’m going to be gone for the next two weeks.” She smiled.

“YES!” I screamed at the top of my lungs. I couldn’t have been more happier in that moment. I heard a horn blare outside.

“Well guys that’s my ride. Bye Gabby I’ll miss you.” Mom said. “Molly.” She nodded stepping outside.

I walked out the door ten minutes later to discover Makenzi in her father’s Lamborghini.

“Hey sexy.” She screamed out the window. “Need a ride to school.”

I smiled and got in the car. I told her all about last night, and she just kept squealing.

When we arrived at school. I looked around for Andrew, but I didn’t see him. We got our books out of our lockers, and expected to see him in History. Makenzi and I were the last one’s in the room as usual and took our normal seats in the back of the room. I looked ahead to see Monique flirting with Andrew.

Makenzi looked at me and coughed, “Monique’s a whore.”

Monique starred at us and replied, “Very Mature.” then she flipped her hair and turned back to where Andrew was standing, but he was now sitting in his desk; shaking with laughter.

“Whatever.” Monique said flipping her hair.

“Damn I wish-” Makenzi started then smiled and reached into her bag. She pulled out a pair of scissors and smiled at me. She reached in front of her and gently lifted up Monique’s pony-

tail. Then in one gentle snip Monique’s ponytail fell onto Makenzi’s desk. Monique screamed and everyone looked.

“Let’s see you flip your goddamn hair now Bitch.” Makenzi laughed.

“Makenzi Blaze! Go to the principal’s office immediately.” Mrs. Collins shouted.

“Don’t worry I know where it is.” Makenzi laughed. I was in the back of the room laughing harder than she was.

“You too Ms. Hitch.” She shouted.

“What did I do?” I asked still laughing.

“You were bullying another student. Now go.” She pointed to the door of her classroom.

I walked out and Makenzi was waiting for me. We stated walking to the office.

“Makenzi, you’re my hero.” I whispered.

“I know right.” She replied.

We were in the office until lunch. During which we took our place behind a pine tree.

“So how much trouble did you get into?” Theo asked.

“They made us call our parents and tell them what we did.” I answered. “Dad just kept laughing.”

“My mom kept yelling.” Makenzi laughed. “But I’m sixteen and I don’t give a damn.”

“Gabriel Iglesias.” I smiled at her impersonation.

Makenzi coughed, and pointed over to where Andrew was sitting by Monique in the grass. I gazed and said, “Guess he goes for short haired girls.”

At this the whole gang burst out laughing. Loralei stood up and walked over there.

“Oh my, what is she doing.” I asked.

“It’s Loralei, you never know anything.” Evangeline smiled obviously well aware of her best friend’s actions.

Andrew got up and Loralei led him away.
