Ukriki was leading the way by illuminating everyone’s steps.
“I wonder how long this cave goes for” –Yiuni said.
“Probably as long as your fake makeup.” –Youno said almost laughing. Yiuni just gave him a slap in the back of his head.
“I think here’s good enough. We don’t want to go far inside without really knowing what’s there.” –Arith said.
“Yes, thank you. Because that does make me feel much better.” – Cresio said.
Arith just ignored him. He didn’t feel like arguing since he’s feeling way too tired.
“We should take turns and keep watch for the night. We’ll rotate every hour. I can take the first shift.” –Zezrom said.
“That’s a good idea. We need to be prepared for any danger.” –Lonyer said.
“I have an idea to light up the place. Since Ukriki is not going to stay up all night illuminating the room. I need Youno and Yiuni’s help in this.” –Jaliah said.
“What do you need from us?” –Yiuni asked.
“You both mentioned you could make a force field when you’re together right? All I need is you guys to create a small force field, enough to trap a spark of electricity that I’m going to create. It would be like a light bulb. Enough to see our surroundings.” –Jaliah said.
Yiuni and Youno just nodded and came closer to Jaliah. The twins grabbed each other’s hand and closed their eyes. In front of them a small circle was forming. Jaliah quickly threw a spark inside the tiny force field, before it closed. Once closed, the spark of electricity was trapped inside. They created an artifact enough to light up the cave.
“That was very clever, Jaliah.” –Benston said.
“Thanks.” –Jaliah said with a smile.
“Okay, everyone go to sleep now. Zezrom will take the first shift.” –Arith said.
No one opposed. Every single one of them were extremely tired. They didn’t care if they had to sleep under a rocky floor.
“Hariah, stay close to me please” –Madame Uni said.
“Ugh, leave me alone. I’m not a baby.” –Hariah said. She then looked for her new friend Riri and laid down next to her.
Zezrom placed a hand on Madame Uni’s shoulder and said, “Don’t worry ma’am. It’s hard to deal with teenagers. Give her time and I’m sure she’ll appreciate one day everything you did for her.”
Madame Uni turned to see him. She was tearing up. “I hope so, Zezrom. I’ve been taking care of Miss. Hariah since she was born. I see her as my daughter. All I want is to protect her.”
“And you’re doing a good job. You are a good woman, Madame Uni. Now take some rest, I’ll watch out for everyone. Even Hariah.” –Zezrom said with a genuine smile.
“Thank you so much.” –Madame Uni said. She then laid down and closed her eyes.
Saphiro was lying down, with his eyes open. “Phiro, not feeling tired?” –Arith said, who was next to him. Saphiro turned to see him. “I am, but it’s hard to go to bed when I have so many questions about what’s going on. Who is doing this to us? What’s the purpose of all of this? Why us?” –Saphiro said.
Arith quickly placed gently his finger on Saphiro’s lips. “Hey hey, we all have the same questions but no answers. Let’s stop thinking about it for just a moment and let’s rest. We need it.” –Arith said with a smile.
Arith then removed his finger. Saphiro was opening his mouth to say something else when Arith said “No no. No more words.” He then cuddled with Saphiro. “Night, Phiro. We’ll be okay.” –Arith said.
All Saphiro could think about now was that the guy he’s been in love with his entire life was now cuddling with him. He didn’t wanted to say something, because he knew how clumsy he was with his words and he didn’t wanted to ruin the moment. Instead, Saphiro just closed his eyes and went to sleep with a smile on his face.
The cave went silent. Everyone was sleeping except Zezrom. 1 hour passed. He then slowly walked towards Benston to tell him it was his turn to keep an eye on everyone. But when he was about to wake him up a loud “BOOM” was heard inside the entire cave. Zezrom turned to see the entrance of the cave. It was covered by a huge rock. Everyone quickly woke up.
“What was that sound?” –Sallyia asked.
Zezrom pointed towards the entrance. “We’re trapped inside the cave.”
