OF RAINS AND RAINBOWSMature

Rains and rainbows

Oft repeated slants and pitter- patter drops

This, the rain of my childhood still rebounds

Of smattered memories in brief spin-offs

In bulbous images, and bubbly sounds..

The streaming rain and the rain in streams

Bloom enlarged on my Childhood screen

With Paper boats and exuberant splashes

Sodden clothes and blustering flashes

The sounds and smells do oft wind back

The clock of Life in a jiffy and joyful flash

The joy and banter of an age gone past

Reminds me often of the next-door lass

She sprang to life with the slightest drizzle

Her springy strides do my mind puzzle

Skipping and singing as the rains abound

Splashing and romping all around.

Rains in my memory do still resonate

Delightful childhood does reverbate

Plodding to school with satchel on back

As slivers of rain my traipse impact.

Rainbows too seemed so overwhelming

Bridging skies, bright and condescending

Holding promise of clearer skies ahead

Of Hope and Joy, woven in golden thread.

Seemingly endless the rainbow’s pledge

Lo behold in Life, and beyond Life’s edge

We carry on living with hope, fervent and strong

Resounding through Life as we saunter along.

Oft repeated slants and pitter- patter drops

This, the rain of my childhood still rebounds

Of smattered memories in brief spin-offs

In bulbous images, and bubbly sounds..
