Mr. Smith was starting to regain consciousness as Detective Leonard stormed into the warehouse. A look of anger flashed into the former’s eyes as his arms were grasped behind him. I felt Alicia cower behind me as The Detective read her father the Miranda Rights.

“Andrew James Smith, you are under arrest for the murder of Joshua Simon Craig and the attempted murder of Alicia Penelope Craig. You have the right to remain silent…”

I turned and looked fully at Alicia. She may have been older than me, but right now she seemed so much smaller; living in a ‘shed’ all her life had made her a ghost. Skin of paper white and curls the palest cream, she was truly a light in Andrew Smith’s choking darkness. Saving my life against the orders of a homicidal man showed she was certainly a saint in her own right.

The End
