“There’s been a murder!” was the shout all over School that Friday. The Library was cordoned off and students gathered in the hall-shepherded by their anxious teachers; rumours shot around like bullets and everybody was just a little more wary. When Mr. Craig did not show to assist all morning wails echoed round the room that he had been murdered. That was what started everything; that was what made me curious and got me caught up in this affair: The nicest teacher in the world, struck down viscously (or apparently so)? Why? Or as the French-English would say “Mais pourquoi?” I just had to get in the Library and find out more, or implode with curiosity…
