Ode to the 17 year old me.

Open up your envelope

What did you come to find

She only wrote the letter

But couldn't send it this time

She's up all the hours tonight

Tears are fallin' on the bed

Left behind are memories

Of words that had been said

She spends her days taking photographs

Trying to force a smile

And she's turning up the silence

Her world is in denial

I said don't let it get you down

You've got so much to give

In time you'll come around

You've got a life to live

So now I open up that envelope

What do I come to find

The person that's there

She was just trying to hide

All the fears that she kept

Fall down to the floor

In front of the mirror she steps

And finds something to adore

I lost you.

I love you, but I don't.

You were all I saw that night.
