Hope you're all having a happy and healthy new year from the we always catch our crooks club
O CHRISTMAS TREE
The gang was all too excited to visit the Fair forest and pick out the best
x-mas tree for inside their clubhouse
“I hope that they've one that's full of colorful pines. That way we don't have to
put up so many lights on it.”
Daisy Penguin was telling them on their way there
“That's dumb, whoever heard of a colorful pine tree?”
Tommy Cub frowned
“Now, now, let's keep it friendly.
I'm sure that they've all sorts of suitable
trees you can buy” And Tommy, as silly as it sounds
I'd love to have a colorful pine tree, anything not to deal with untangling all
those x-mas lights!”
Cookie's mom laughed
Shortly afterwards they drove passed a crooked sign that was nailed to a tree
which looked like it was about to fall off at any moment
MAKE YOUR CHRISTMAS A BIT MERRIER BY BUYING THE
“Oh, how beautiful!” It looks like some sort of magical forest.”
once they all got out of the car and walked in
There were rows of what seemed liked miles and miles of all sort of different
sizes pine trees, some even had fake snow on top of them
along with other colorful plants and flowers. Which were all prepared for the
perfect x-mas present
but before they ran out in search of finding the perfect tree
Tommy cried out jokingly
“Hey!” I think I found one!”
He held up a little pine that looked like it was just about to fall apart
at any moment. And before any of the gang could reply
an angry voice yelled out
“If you break it!” Then you brought it!”
So put that down before you do.”
“Sorry, I wasn't going to break it.” Tommy mumbled
“Tommy, here give it to me. Let me buy it for you okay?”
Now why don't you go find the others.
I'll join you kids, a bit later.” Cookie's mom smiled
Tommy smiled before he ran off to go join the rest of the gang
“She was such a mean grump.”
Tommy told them after he explained what happened
“I feel bad that your mom had to buy that little tree.
Maybe I should pay her
back or something.” He added.
Cookie patted Tommy on the back and smiled
“Don't worry about it. She shouldn't have treated you like that
you'd think she'd be jollier working in a place like this.”
“Well, maybe we should call Santa, and tell him to put a piece of coal
under her pillow!” A friendly voice from behind them laughed
They turned around and found a pretty collie staring at them
with a big smile on her face
“You must be Cookie, and friends.
I'm Judy, my mom owns this place.”
“Nice to meet you, my mom's pretty good friends with yours right?”
“That's right, in fact, they're in my mom's office right now catching up.
Sorry Tommy, about Miss Pinks,
ever since she got another job, she has been grumpier”
I know that doesn't excuse the way she treated you,
but ever since my mom broke her leg”
She needs all the help that she can get around here.” Judy explained
“How did your mom break her leg?” Daisy asked
“Oh, she tripped over some broken tree limbs, while chasing our not so friendly ghost”!
“Excuse me. Did you just say that you've a not so friendly ghost?” Sammy Turtle frowned.
Judy laughed at their confusion
“That's right. I named it that after all the weird things that have happened around here”
which none of it has been very friendly.”
“What kind of weird things?” Vicky Dragonfly asked
“It started small, flower pots would go missing or break. Then we had a small fire that
started out of nowhere”
“I keep telling my mom that I believe Mr. Grill's behind all our problems.”
“Who's Mr. Grill?” Cookie asked
“Oh, he's even worse than Mrs. Pinks, in the grumpy department.
Supposedly he just finished buying the plot next to ours, and wants for my mom to sell him, hers”
“So he can combine the two and build a giant fair park, at first I was all for my mom to sell it.
But then after we Google his name I was no way that I wanted for her to sell it.” Judy answered
“Why? What did you find out about him?” They wanted to know
“Well, before he moved here, he was ordered to close down his other fair parks due to safely issues.
A kid even died on one of his rides and the weasel tried to worm his way out of it”
Who seems I guess doesn't like to like to take no for an answer, since ever since my mom told him to take a hike.
Weird things started happening.” Judy finished explaining
“Whoa, that's awful.
But I guess without any proof I guess there's no way that you can prove it, huh?”
Sammy asked her
“Yeah, pretty much.” Judy shrugged. Cookie suddenly got an idea
“They can't, but we're known to have solve a few mysteries.
What if we start helping out around here, and in doing so we'll keep our eyes and ears open for clues”
And who knows we might get lucky and unmask this unfriendly ghost!”
“That would be a wonderful idea, when can you start?” Judy happily answered
the next day after eating a big breakfast they rode their bikes back to Fair forest
to begin their first day of work
When they reach the main office they noticed that some of the flower pots were broken and spots of dry mud.
Was smeared all over the door and walls
“So, I see that you kids, couldn't resist returning back to the scene of your crime.”
Miss Pinks accused them
“Huh?” We didn't do anything we just got here, besides why would we do something as awful as this.”
Vicky frowned. Miss Pinks was about to answer her but Judy's mom interrupted her
“That's quite enough!” these kids, have been kind enough to take time to help us out without asking.
They're not here to be falsely accused, please apologies at once.”
“My apologies.” Miss Pinks smirked before she stormed off
“Wow, what happened?” Cookie asked her
“Well, if Judy, were here she’d answer that our ghost friend had strike again!”
Judy’s mom laughed
“Ms. Baker, you really don’t believe in ghost?
And that Mr. Grill’s really behind all these pranks?” Vicky asked her
“Of course not, and as for Mr. Grill, well I’d like to give him the benefit of the doubt that he’s not this childish.
But sometimes when you’ve as much money as he does you start believing that can buy you whatever, whenever you want to”
“So I wouldn’t put it pass him, but it’s going to take more than a few childish pranks to have me.
Sell this place to a jerk like Mr. Grill.”
“But that’s nothing for you kids, to worry about, how about if I make us all some hot chocolates then we’ll start working.”
Judy’s mom answered
Later that day they were hanging out inside their clubhouse discussion what was going on with their case.
Cookie pulled out from her pocket a small notebook and opened it
“Okay, we know that having two jobs or not Miss. Pinks, is an old grump.
And since she’s an old grump make some customers not want to come back.” Tommy began
“Good point Tommy, next, we know that someone is playing cruel jokes on Judy’s mom.
So it’d get around that her place was haunted yet dangerous.” Sammy added
“Also true, but who?” Daisy asked
“My bet would be Mr. Grill, just like Judy’s mom said he probably thinks just because he’s rich.
That he deserves everything he wants whatever its for sell or not.” Vicky told them
“Yah, but let’s not forget about Judy,” Cookie added
The rest of the gang asked with confused looks on their faces
“I’m not saying it’s her, but I get a funny feeling that she wishes that her mom”
Didn’t work so much as she does and had more time for her.” Cookie shrugged
“There are good points, but what now?” How are we going to prove who the real ghost is?” Tommy asked
The next day Judy called the gang and told them that a newspaper article came out
Stating all the problems her mother has been having. And how they all should stay away from the Fair forest
“Oh great, now everyone’s going to really believe that it’s really haunted.
And Ms. Baker will be forced to sell.” Sammy groaned
“Relax Sammy, she’s not going to sell not when she has the We Always Catch Our Crooks Club working for her!”
Daisy laughed. When they arrived they were surprised to see that the parking lot was almost filled up
“Wow, I guess whoever sent that article must be feeling pretty dumb. I’ve never seen this place so packed.”
“I guess it never fails. Tell a group that a place is haunted and they all go running to see if it’s true or not!”
Vicky cried out
A day later the girls were waiting for the boys to arrive at their clubhouse.
So they could head out towards Fair forest
“I wonder what’s keeping them?” Daisy asked. Vicky shrugged she was about to give them a call
When they came running in and before the girls could ask them where they’ve been Tommy cried out
We figured out how we can catch Ms. Baker’s not so friendly ghost!”
“You did? How?” The girls wanted to know
“Come on, we’ll tell you on the way there. We
are going to need Ms. Baker’s help if our plans are
going to work.” Sammy told them
Hours later the gang was outside Ms. Baker’s office pretending to be cleaning up.
When Mr. Grill walked by with a big smirk on his face
“I certainly hope that this is going to work.”
Daisy whispered over to Cookie. As they quickly sneaked into the back office.
And pressed their ears against the wall so they could hear what was going on
“So, I see, that you’ve finally came to your senses.
I’ve all the papers here ready for you to sign, and a nice check with your name on it in my pocket.”
Mr. Grill smiled
“What!” What is he talking about?” Miss Pinks frowned
“Well, since you are the one, who’s known to be Mr. Grill’s spy.
I’m surprised that you didn’t know what he’s talking about.”
So, were you also helping him with those silly pranks that went on too?”
Judy’s mom asked also frowning
“Why, I never did anything to hurt you!” Miss Pinks cried out
“Don’t even. Cookie and her friends have already informed me all about your secret meeting.”
Judy’s mom scowled
“I knew those kids, would be trouble not—“
“Please don’t blame them for your mistakes. What I want you to tell me
is why? Why did you do it?” Judy’s mom interrupted.
And before Miss Pinks could reply Mr. Grill interrupted
“I’m a very busy man and don’t have time to be messing around.
I came here with the understanding that you were ready to sell me your property.”
“Well, I’m sorry to be wasting your time Mr. Grill, and have you come all this way on false information.
But I’ve no nor did I ever did have any intentions on selling you my property”
I just wanted for you and Miss. Pinks, to be informed that I know what you’ve been up to
And if it doesn’t stop and you continue causing my family or myself any more problems.”
You’ll leave me no choice but to inform the police of your actions, now if you’d kindly leave and do not return.”
Judy’s mom informed him
“Why, I’ve never been so insulted in my life. And I don’t take kindly to your false accusations and threats”
Just remember that when you’re going broke and have no were to turn.”
Mr. Grill snorted before he stormed off
“And as for you Miss. Pinks, I’m very sorry but I’ve no choice but to-“
“It wasn’t all Miss Pinks, fault.” A small voice from behind them interrupted
“I’m sorry mom, I never meant for it to go this far or for you to get hurt. I just wanted to scare you
into working less” Or even sell to Miss. Pinks, not a creep like Mr. Grill,
I even asked her if she had the money would she be interested in buying the Fair forest.” Judy answered
“Is that true?” Judy’s mom asked
“Yes, and honesty Tammy, I owe you an apology.
I just have been so stressed dealing with my husband’s medical issues, having to work two jobs”
It was wrong of me not telling you that Mr. Grill, kept trying to have me trick you into selling your business to him”
It all got the best of my better judgment and turned me bitter and harsh, I took it out on you and your customers”
When I should’ve just came talk to you can you forgive me?” Miss Pinks answered
“No, I’m the one who owes both of you some big apologies.
I was so caught up in my work and in trying to make this place better”
That I couldn’t see what was going on around me”
“Judy, what you did was very foolish, someone besides me could’ve gotten seriously hurt.
But please believe me when I tell you this
I’ve failed in having you feel that you, no matter what, or no matter how busy you think I ‘m.
will always have time for you and your problems no matter how big or small. I’ll always put you first”
Cause you’re the only thing that will forever matter to me.” Her mother explained.
Judy wiped the tears from her check then gave her mom the biggest hug
“And I’d like to thank you kids, for all your help if it wasn’t for what you discovered.
I would’ve never known how Judy, really felt.” Ms. Baker added
“Aww, it was nothing.” Cookie blushed
“Oh, but it was. And as for a reward, I’m going to treat us to the biggest ice cream cone. We can find”
But first, Miss. Pinks, how would you like to be my business partner”
The job would come with a nice little pay raise, so you would have to quite your other job.”
Miss Pinks was so surprised and shocked that she didn’t know how to respond.
She just nodded her head yes
“Great!” Judy’s mom laughed.
“We’ll finish discussing the rest of the detail over those ice cream cone, and how your first order as my new partner.
Will be to take over while Judy and I go on a very long much needed reconnecting-no work allow vacation!”
