Walking around all the bodies from the heavy fighting, the newly recruited soldier noticed a very large shape shifter.  He walked over and began to examine it.  He had seen them before, but never that big.

As he rounded the beasts head, he noticed the barrel of a rifle laying on the ground.  Next to the sniper rifle was a soldier.  Kneeling, he checked for a pulse, and found one.

Turning excitedly, he yelled, "We've got a live one over here!  He's one of ours!  Get the medic!"

The medic hurried over and started to work.

You can be any of the races, only humans need some form of breathing ie face masks etc but it is slightly futurstic so use your imagination.
The world is very cold in a permanent winter therefore make sure your character is equipped for this.

shape-changers can change shape like someone may change into mammals, another birds, another fish, another insects. They specialise. However skin-walkers are half-human half shape-changer and can only change into one animal determined at random by genes
