It is the end of the day. You should be pretty tired by now. With your folders now sitting snugly in your desk, your backpack should be much lighter. There are announcements on the speakerphone. Don’t bother spending the energy listening to them. Instead, concentrate on how the sprint past everyone and get on the bus early to get a good seat. You don’t have the friends the stay behind with.
As you sit on the bus, listen to the chatter around and make sure to realize that even though taking fourth grade would have been horrendous and annoying (oh those stupid fourths graders you might think), skipping it meant that you might never actually be able to completely be part of the social world of your fellow peers.
