Several days after my rather frightening talk with Hawk, I was supposed to go out with the group and do something I wasn't familiar with. I didn't pay it too much attention and followed them anyway, but kept my distance from both Hawk and our leader. I couldn't shake the feeling that she'd really fuck me over if I did as much as look at Black in the wrong way. Even if I were to ever try to have anything more than a friendship there, I knew I'd mess up eventually seeing that I was who I am and my years of being by myself left my manners and communication with others both unpolished.

I stayed behind the others and kept thinking to myself. Eventually, the others went off in pairs and of course, I just had to be left with Black. I was pretty sure that she decided this for the both of us, despite Hawk's possible protests.

“You look so out of it today, Freshmeat.” Our leader said, poking me.

“I, uh...didn't sleep so well last night.” That wasn't a complete lie.

“Oh, well that's too bad. I was starting to think that you had second thoughts of joining us.”

“No. I am glad I did.” I said as I smiled faintly.

“Glad to hear it.”

We walked in silence before she stopped in front of me. There was a building directly towards us with writing all over. I couldn't read much of what it said, but I knew that the names resembled those of the other groups who'd controlled this area before. I wasn't sure if they were still at a strife with the one I was in now.

“Well, let's get to it, Freshmeat.” Black said almost charismatically.

“Um, what exactly?”

“We gonna tag this shit up. Make it obvious that we've been here and that we rule over this area now. We've got several other ones to alter, so we're going to be doing a bit of walking.”

“Can you be a bit more specific than 'tag this shit up', please?”

“Okay. See theirs? We make our mark. Whether it be over theirs or not, it's up to you.”

“I see. What is our mark, then?”

“Our names, of course.”

“So you expect me to put 'Freshmeat' on the wall?”

She laughed for a moment.

“Fine, I guess I'll let you off the hook with that. For now. Give yourself a name for everyone to remember you by. Make it short and sweet, right?”

“I've never really done this before, though.”

“Okay, look.” She went over and got what seemed to be a can of spray paint.

I watched as she wrote her name on the wall several times, often over the others who were there before us. Her writing was rather sloppy, but somehow added to the overall esthetic. She then stepped back to admire her work.

“Just like that. I'll write up some more on this other wall. You put the name you've decided on near mine, alright?”

I nodded and saw her walk up to the nearby building. Looking down at the paint cans, I was still unsure what to do. I searched through all the colors until I found one I was content with and turned towards the wall. For a while now, I did have a name in mind, but I wasn't sure if she'd appreciate it at all. I carefully wrote the name on the wall beside hers and I made a point to make it different.

After making a few changes here and there, I was finally satisfied with my work. I heard her walk up beside me, the look on her face told me that she was rather pleased with herself.

“So, what have you got there?” Black said as her eyes went from me to the wall in front of us.

She was quiet for a moment and the air was noticeably tense.

“I see.” Her voice was low.

“Is it...okay?” I asked nervously.

“Depends. Is this what you really want?” She asked with a rather serious expression.

“Yeah, I've been thinking about it for a while. I thought I'd wait until I'd do something notable for you all, but I sorta felt like I was being put on the spot.”

“Hm.” She continued to stare at it.

“If it really bothers you, I can come up with something else.”

“It's fine. I like it, really.” She smiled faintly.

“You don't think it's entitled of me, or anything?”

“Not sure what that means, but I think it suits you.”

“Well, thank you.”

“We should meet up with the others, yeah?”

“Of course.”

“Let's go, White.”

I walked beside her as we went back the way we came and I couldn't help that she was rather close at my side again. I'd be lying if I said I couldn't feel her eyes on me a lot more than usual now. I wondered when she'd get bored of trying to figure me out, but she only seemed more intrigued as time went on

The End
