Chapter 3

The boy was tall with tuquoise blue eyes and short black spiky hair. Like everyone else he was wearing the green and white school uniform.

"Hey" I said.

"Hiya" said the boy.

"What's your name mate?"

"Selby, Selby Marshall."

"Cool. I'm Mark Chapman."

"Good to meet you."

"Why're you lurking around the Geography block?"

"Oh I was waiting for Mel...nah she's not my girlfriend." This was in response to the questioning look I shot him. "We're just friends. We hang out sometimes. She's the only friend I have in school at the moment - well that I hang out with. Everyone else I just see in class."

"You sound like me" I said slowly. "I'm new and I only just befriended Kamilla." I paused, "She's gorgeous." My tone became all soft. Selby smiled.

"Ah there's Mel."

A girl with hazel eyes and long wavy black hair came along at that moment.

"Mel, meet my new friend Mark."

I held out a hand and she shook it.

"Nice to meet you Mark."

"Nice to meet you too" I said politely.

"How long have you two been friends?" I asked Selby

"About a year" Selby grinned.

Just then the bell rang.

"Uh oh" said Selby. "Time always goes very quickly here.

"Well, it was nice to meet you guys".

"Good to meet you too Mark" they said in unison.

I went for my first Geography lesson and went to sit next to Kamilla. As we waited, I told her about meeting Selby and Mel and promised to introduce her at lunchtime. She thanked me.

"You're welcome". I gazed intently into her eyes and then blushed and looked away. She smiled.

Presently our teacher Miss Fletcher came in. She was a short woman with long blonde curls and azure blue eyes.

The Geography lesson was more an introductory session than anything else though we started to learn about Coasts. The boy sitting at the desk behind me dropped his ruler so I fixed my eyes and my mind on the ruler and discretely moved it into his hand when he bent down to pick it up. That way I can practise my powers and be helpful at the same time - it kinda kills two birds with one stone as the saying goes.

When Geography finished, Kamilla and I went to Drama. The Drama studio floor was wide and smooth and I automatically glanced at the stage area and the back steps leading up behind the stage to the lighting area. Once more it was an introductory session. We recieved copies of the specification so that we would know what to expect and were told in general about the course. In the final half hour we divided in pairs. I partnered Jacob Lancer, a short and stocky guy with a shock of black hair. I looked tentatively across at Kamilla who was partnering a fair haired girl for a second before focussing on my work. We did this breathing excersise where you had to breathe in, hold your breath for a moment and then say something as you breathed out.

I guessed the purpose of this. After all a good actor couldn't let his breathing affect his line delivery. It was a bit difficult for me to do at first but the second time I found it a little less painful. I wasn't sure whether I had unintentionally used my powers to aid me though. Poor Jacob found it really tough. Still, you don't have to be a brilliant actor to do Drama at a simple level. Soon the bell rang, signalling our lunch. Kamilla and I both bought school dinner from the rather crowded canteen and then we went off to find Selby and Mel. They were sitting on a bench near the field chatting and got up to greet us.

The End
