Turn My Back

Of course an awkward silence followed the door opening but I wasn’t going to be the one to break it. Because you know, I’m not crazy or anything.

“Money?” David asked with a smile and Jason nodded, never taking his eyes off of me. He—and Collin—obviously must know by now that I know everything that they hadn’t wanted me to know. But what does that mean for all of us? What now?

As if to answer my questions, Jason spoke next. “Can I talk to you, Allie?”

“I’d rather if you didn’t.” I whispered, standing up slowly. Turning to David, I asked in an annoyed tone, “Can I go now?” He nodded still smiling like the idiot he is. But then again, aren’t they all?

“Allie, come on. Don’t be like that.”

“Jason, you come on. You knew about Collin without me telling you. You totally used me," I whispered the sex part, "Had sex with me. And then all of this was planned?! I don’t ever want to talk to you again.” I stepped past him and Collin out the door and then sprinted.

Blindly, yes. Since I had no idea where I was but I just had to get away. I didn’t want to cry in front of any of them. But I wanted to—needed to cry. If only I could just curl up into a ball and disappear so I can cry for hours on end without anyone noticing.

That’s not how the real world works though.

So I checked my cell phone 6:37 p.m. and headed home to turn my back on my issues and face my mother.

The End
