The following day, I went to the park looking for Jason. He was seated at our bench when I sat down next to him.
“Sorry.” We both said at the same time.
“Go ahead.” I whispered, fidgeting with my hands.
“It was none of my business,” Jason began, “I could have just stayed out of all of it. Sorry if I’m bothering you, but … I … I really like you.” I gaped at him. “Your turn.”
My turn?! How can there be a my turn after that bit of news?! Plus, I honestly had no idea what I was going to say now.
“Allie? You okay?” I must have zoned out.
I nodded and regained my voice. “I’m fine. I’m just … thinking.”
“Thinking about what?” Jason asked and I could feel his hand sliding off his lap, closer to me. “Is something wrong?” Um, not really sure yet.
