Abbie's birthday was a day I'll never forget. When I woke up, I was wide awake. There was none of the usual morning tiredness that I normally got. I went out of my tent and Abbie was already there.
"Happy Birthday Abbie!" I exclaimed happily and handed her my gift. It was a bunch of bluebells. It had taken me ages to find them. They were half-paused in time. They wouldn't change, they couldn't die. But they were moveable-aboutable. It had taken me three days to get them like this. They were attached to a small silver bracelet.
"Wow. It's really pretty Sara, thank you" she said and hugged me. Then Max came out and handed her a book.
"It isn't much but..." He trailed off.
"The Secret Circle" Abbie read the title "Thank you Max! I've been wanting this for ages!" and she hugged him. Then after a while, Ben came out "Happy Birthday" he said to Abbie and handed her a small white box. She opened it and brought out a silver chain. On the end was a small silver 'A' with little blue diamonds in it.
"It isn't very good. I saw it in the same shop as I saw Sara's. I thought you'd like it..."
"No, Ben, this is beautiful. Thank you!!" she hugged him too. Then we all sat down and had breakfast. That was the first part of the day I'll never forget.
That afternoon, when we were all sitting around the circle where the fire normally was, was the best bit. Abbie was reading her new book, Ben was listening to his iPod next to her. Max was reading his book and I was reading over his shoulder. After around ten minutes, Ben stopped listening to music.
"Abbie?" he asked.
"Hmm?" that was the answer Abbie normally gave when she was reading.
"Abbie, please look at me. I have something to show you" he said. Abbie put her book down and looked at him. He looked into her eyes. Then, slowly, he leaned towards her and kissed her lips. She blinked a few times. Then she leaned in and kissed him back. Then they stared into each others eyes. "I love you" Ben whispered.
"I love you" Abbie whispered back. He clutched her to his chest and she wrapped her arms around him. I smiled and Max looked at me.
"You knew, didn't you?" he smiled. I nodded. This was the best time ever. If only I'd known what was going to happen after that then.
