When we got back to the clearing, Max immediately go up and reached for my hand but I shook my head.
"Max, I'm really sorry. I was just really annoyed. I should've handled it better" I said. He pulled me into a hug.
"Oh, Sara. You didn't need to apologize! I'm sorry too. You were right, I shouldn't have carried it on. It was stupid. Sorry" he said. I pulled away.
"Max" Ben started, we all sat down "What I said was really wrong. It was horrible, I shouldn't have said it. I'm really sorry. I can't tell you how sorry I actually am"
"No, it's fine. I understand. And, no offence, but it's not really me you should be apologizing to" Max said, his eyes flashed to Abbie's tent.
"Your right" Ben said. I got up and went over to the tent.
"Abbie? Can I come in?" I asked quietly.
"It's open" she said. I went in, she was lying face down on her sleeping bag.
"Abbie, are you OK?" I whispered. She turned round and sat up. Her face was tearstained.
"Yeah. Yeah, I'm fine"
"Abbie, please come out. Ben feels really bad, he wants to apologize." I told her.
"But he's right though, isn't he? None of this would be happening if I hadn't carried it on in the first place" she sighed.
"Abbie, please. He's been crying because he feels so bad" I said quietly. Her eyes widened.
"OK. I'll come out. Just give me a minute" she said. I left the tent and went and sat next to Ben.
"Did you tell her?" he muttered to me so Max wouldn't hear.
"No. But I think you should"
"No. I - I don't want to... just yet..." he trailed off when Abbie came out. "Abbie! I'm really, really sorry! I didn't mean it! I was just so annoyed, with all the noise and my headache..."
"Ben. It's fine. You were right. I was stupid. It was wrong to carry it on. I'm so sorry" she looked at the ground and her hair fell over her face. Ben got up and moved it away. Abbie blushed.
"Abbie. Please stop feeling guilty. I feel really bad" he said. She nodded. Ben hugged her and her cheeks grew even more red.
