I waited in the lunch line, my only close friend left behind me. Noah tried to comfort me, but I tuned him out. I grabbed my lunch, and marched pass the table Nate was sitting at. He was looking at me. I could feel it. I sat with Noah at a table far off in the corner of the cafeteria. Macy came by and glared at me.
"What?" said Noah.
"Nothing," she said placing her hands on her pregnant stomach. I flinched. She walked away and sat at Nate's table. I think she enjoyed being pregnant with Nate's baby. Everybody took pity on her, but they still didn't hate Nate. I, however, was known as the "girlfriend-of-the-guy-that-got-her-best-friend-pregnant". They gave me that look, which I hated. I ignored everyone. Well, except for Noah. He was there for me. I looked at him as he took a bite of his salad. He raised his eyebrows, his mouth still full.
"What?" he asked swallowing. I smiled, this time a real one.
"Wow," he said, "haven't seen that in a long time."
I smiled again, taking a bite of my sandwich. Lunch zoomed by and I went to my car. Nate followed me out.
"Bree, would you just listen to me?"
He grabbed my shoulders pulling me closer to him.
"Let go of me," I said.
"But will you listen to me?"
"No," I said trying to get out of his firm grip. He looked at me with pleading eyes. I sighed.
"Macy was over my house, trying to flirt with me. I let her. And she started to kiss me and_"
"Stop. Please, just stop."
"But would you let me explain?"
I twisted out of his grip and went to my car. I looked at him one more time before I left him in the paking lot alone.
