Something NewMature

I sat in the camper pacing back and forth. Would this ever happen? Is this going to go back down hill like last time? I was so nervous. I looked at my mama who was laughing.

"What?" I asked

"You are getting too worked up, you're fine. He choose you didn't he?"

I smiled and nodded. I was freaking out about nothing. This time it was going to work, no doubt about it. I was truly happy, this was going to work out. I took a deep breathe and the lady who was doing my hair and make-up walked into the RV. I sat down in the chair and started to calm down. My best friend Grace brought me over a glass of champagne. Grace was my catcher at Bama. My other two bridesmaids were also girls I played with at Bama. Sophie played first, and Piper played center. We were inseparable, just like the four idiots. I looked around at all of us in our 'game day' sweats with our old numbers on the back with Bride, Maid Of Honor, and Bridesmaid on the backs. We even got Mama, and Liv a set with Mother on the back, and then we got Abby little ones with Flower Girl on the back.

Before no time my hair and make-up was done, along with Grace, Sophie, Piper, My flower girl and cousin Abby, Mama, and Liv. Liv left our RV and headed over to the boys, and brought back a letter. She had given Luke mine to him, and gave me his to me. We sat down on the couch, and my photographer switched over to video tape this. I opened the envelope and started reading.

I love you so much, and cannot wait to start our new life…again today. I will not take the easy road out this time, no matter what. If either one of us get made we can calm down and work it out later, cause I'm not leaving. It took me a long time to figure out why I left, and it came down to it got hard. But not everything is easy, I mean we were 18, you were in college, hardly ever home. I was trying to put food on the table, always working. We never really got time for us. And this time, I will make sure that there is more us time than me time, or time with the guys. You are my everything, my world. And today for the second time I'm marrying my best friend. It will be the happiest day of my life to see you walking down the isle towards me again. I love you more than you can imagine, and can't wait to make this work.

P.S. look underneath the couch.

I wiped the tears from my eyes, and looked under the couch. There was a small box with a baby blue bow, my favorite color. I pulled it out, and I could tell that he had wrapped it. For the first time ever he had gotten the bow thing down. I unwrapped it to find this grandmama's pearl necklace. I laughed, and more tears slid down my face. The photographer left to go film Luke reading his letter.

I sat on my couch waiting for the photographer to come in. I wanted to open the letter so bad. I got up and started pacing back and forth, when finally she came into the RV. I sat down and opened the envelope.

I love you! I can't wait to walk down the isle towards you again. Our wedding eight years ago was the best day of my life, and I am so happy to relive that today. You are my knight in shinning amour. Or my cowboy with a soft heart. You always have acted so hard, and tough, but I know the real you. I've seen you happy, I've seen you cry. You never could hide a damn thing from me. I want to let you know that I am putting everything in the past behind me, and I forgive you. Yes it wasn't the right thing to leave, but I understand why you did. It was tough, no marriage is easy, and being 18 and dumb did help us at all. I am so happy to have you being the last thing I see at night, and the first thing I wake up to in the morning, and I'm especially happy to start our new life here in Pennsylvania. Alabama is a chapter of our marriage that we'll never forget, but simply learn from. I promise to love you until the day I am laid in the ground. See you at the outlook. I love you more than you can imagine!

I smiled and looked at the guys when I was done. I was holding back the tears that I knew would come out sooner or later. I knew that this time, it was gonna work.

I looked in the mirror as the girls helped me slide into the my lace dress. When I had gotten married the first time I had chose a very simple dress and had a very small wedding. This time I was going to have the wedding of my dreams, no matter the cost. My dress was a mermaid dress that was all white lace. It had three-quarter sleeves, and had a very long train, and best of all it was fitted perfectly to my body. I put my right leg up on the couch to slip on my camouflage garter. Then I put my new boots on, and I was ready to go. I told Liv to go tell Luke to come out side the RV, and I would be on the other side of the door, and that I would only come if he promised not to look. She went and got him and then called when he was there. I reached around the door and found his hand.

"I love you Luke." I said holding back the tears.

"I love you too Dimples." He replied.

The photographer took a few more pictures of us, and then I headed back into my RV to put on the final touches before I had my daddy come get me. I put on my small birdcage vail before looking the mirror for the last time. The girls and I had to walk down that old dirt road that the guys and I had drove down all those times before. They were wearing nude short dresses with brown cowboy boots as well. We all had orange and grey bouquets. I wanted Jake, and Daddy to see me before I walked down the isle. Liv went and got them as we all waited for them to come. The look on both of there faces was priceless. Jake was like a brother to me, and his approval is always something that I had wanted, and with that face I knew he approved.

"Mel, wow. You look stunning!" Jake said hugging me.

"You look very pretty Melissa." My daddy said hugging me.

The girls and I walked down the old dirt road towards the outlook. Call I could see was cars. It put a smile on my face when i saw the sign saying "We interrupt this archery season to bring you this marriage". Luke and the guys, and mostly my daddy were not happy when I said that I wanted a fall wedding. But they finally all came to agree that this wedding was whatever I wanted, thank god. I saw all the chairs, and stopped because I didn't want Luke to see me. The girls went ahead through the doors that we had made so Luke was sure not to see me early, and then the Abby, and Conor's son Zach. Zach was carrying a small sign saying "Here comes your bride Uncle Luke". Someone got up and shut the doors after Zach and Abby had walked through. I heard the song start and I grabbed my daddy's arm.

Extreme nervousness, and excitement came across me as the doors opened. I saw Luke for the first time, and his face was priceless, as I'm sure mine was. I could stop smiling the whole, I was so happy that I was shaking. When I got to Luke I was thrilled that I could barely stand still the whole time the priest was talking. I loved having my wedding completely country, and at the outlook, that was a place that we so many memories at that I was sure that we had to get married there this time. Before no time it was time for the vows. I took Luke's hands and smiled.

"Now it's time for the vows that these two have prepared for each other."

Luke went first. "Melissa, I vow to help you love life, and to always hold you with tenderness, and to have the patience that love demands. I vow to speak when words are needed, and to share the silence when they are not, and to live within the warmth of your heart, and always call it home. I vow to fiercely love you, in all forms now and forever. I promise to never forget that this is once in a lifetime love again. I promise to love you, and no matter what challenges carry us apart, we will always find a way back to each other." He finished with a deep breath. I could see one tear slide down his cheek, and it made me want to cry.

The priest looked at me. " Luke, I vow not to keep score, even if I am totally wining. I vow to clarify exactly what I expect from you, no matter the circumstances. I promise to give you the benefit of the doubt when it comes to everything and anything. I promise to make sure I'm not hungry before yelling at you. I vow to defend you to others, even if you're wrong. I promise to not care if you get fat, skinny, or old. And most of all, I promise to put your happiness before mine." I finished wiping away all my tears.

"Do you Luke Scott take Melissa Scott to be your lawfully wedded wife?" The priest asked.

"I do." He smiled as I slipped on his ring.

"Do you Melissa Scott take Luke Scott to be your lawfully wedded husband?"

"I do." I replied as Luke slip his grandmama's ring on my finger.

"Well with the power invested in me, I pronounce you husband and wife…again." He laughed. "You may kiss the bride."

Luke smiled at me, and dipped me down and kissed me. Everyone cheered, and we watched my bridesmaids and his groomsman walked up the isle before he scooped me up and carried me up the isle. When we reached the door he set me down.

"I love you! I love you! I love you!" He said picking me back up and spinning me around.

"I love you too Luke!" I replied through my laughter.

The End
