"I can write the saddest poem of all tonight.
Write, for instance: "'The night is full
of stars,
and the stars, blue, shiver in the
distance.'" - Pablo Neruda
On the bed, Jeremy lay. Her half naked body frozen still. Her hair soaking wet. Her eyes staring blankly on the walls. She got up and went to the window to take a peek outside the walls that nurtured her for the past few days. All she can hear is dead silence and a few honking trucks. She returned to where she was lying. Then she heard thumping. "Thump, thump." She heard it over and over again. "I guess I'm not the only one awake." She said to herself. She stood up with excitement, like a little cat, curious and all, and went to the wall where the noise was coming from and tucked her ear against the wall. And she could hear moans. "Ah! Late night snack!" she exclaimed. She laughed and went to the corner of the bed and lit a cigarette. As she puffed her life away, she couldn't help but stroll her eyes all over the room. The room was around 400 to 500 Square ft. or smaller. The walls were poorly coated. The color was around yellowish and reddish. But maybe it's because of the light the room was emitting. There is one television set with a few push buttons missing. There was the dresser facing the bed. The mirror all stained and polarized in a way. It seemed someone was watching from the other side. "Yeah right." she said sarcastically. There was the clock. It was quarter half past 11. Surprisingly it was still working compared to the other stuff the broken down cheap hotel was bragging about. And then she turned to her left and saw a picture of a girl flying a kite and the frame was uneven, hanging dully on the wall. She huffed of what was left on her cigarette, grabbed her robe from the chair next to her bed and stood beside the picture. She noticed it wasn't a photograph but a painting. "Now that's what I call a painting!" She exclaimed. She had always believed that when it comes to art, one should have the ability to test one's visual capacity. "Well done mate. You sure fooled me!" She laughed at herself.
