"Lucifer!" Ava shouted.
"Coming!" I returned, reluctantly getting out of bed.
I hauled myself out of the bedroom and downstairs. Jasmine and Daniel were running round the kitchen with the energy that children never seemed to run out of.
"What?" I said to my wife.
Ava looked at me as if I was stupid and spread her arms, gesturing to our children. I grabbed them both in each arm on their next lap around the counter. Jasmine squealed started kicking me but Daniel just laughed. I sat them on the island in the middle of the kitchen.
"Now, why don't you calm down and have your breakfast?" I asked them.
"I'm not hungry," Jasmine whined.
"Well, you need to eat. Or, we might have to send you to Grandad's for a little while."
Her face suddenly paled and she jumped down of the counter and ran around to the bowl of cereal, eating it quickly, splashing milk everywhere at the same time. I laughed at the little seven year old. Daniel got down off the island and sat down calmly. He was only nine but he could be a lot more mature than expected.
Ava sighed gratefully and came over to hug me. She put her arms around my neck and kissed me.
"Ewwww!" Jasmine moaned, making her brother elbow her gently in the ribs.
The doorbell rang so I kissed Ava quickly and went to answer the door. I opened the door and froze, but not because of the winter weather. Stood at the door was one of my Brothers (capital letter intended).
"What do you want?" I hissed at him.
"It's great to see you too, Brother," he said, smirking as always.
"What do you want?" I repeated, my voice dangerously low. I felt my eyes flash their natural red colour.
"Calm down, Lucifer." I didn't. "We only want you back."
"I don't want to come back," I told him simply.
"I wasn't asking," he threatened.
"Do I need to remind you that I could crush you with a simply flip of my hand? There's a reason why I'm the leader. It's because I'm the strongest. I was the one to lead the attack and you were the ones who followed me."
"Lucifer, who is it?" asked Ava, coming into the hall. She saw who it was. "What are you doing here?"
"I've come to get my Brother back," he said simply.
"It's okay, Ava, I've got this," I told her. She looked wary but nodded and went back to the kids.
"So-" he started.
I turned my full glare on him and he shut up.
"I'm not coming back right now, Asmodeus. Don't come back here. Ever. You may be my Brother, but you're still my servant. Never forget that. I will kill you if you force my hand." And with that I slammed the door in his face.
Asmodeus was my Brother, and a Prince at my side. He was the Demon of Lust and liked to play leap-frog in women's beds. I walked back to the kitchen.
"Who was that, Daddy?" asked Jasmine cheerily.
I forced a smile. "No one important."
I shared a glance with Ava, which Daniel caught.
