Stretching out on the bed, I woke up slowly. Zoe was still sleeping beside me. I smiled down at her and kissed her shoulder softly.
"Good morning," she whispered sleepily.
"Morning," I replied quietly.
She smiled, her eyes still closed. "Last night was nice."
I chuckled. "It was."
I ran my fingertips down her side, making her shiver. She rolled towards me slightly and opened her eyes. Her hair fell across her and the pillow, the auburn strands glittering slightly in the dim light of the side lamp I'd forgotten to turn off last night.
"I'm hungry," she whispered.
I smiled. "What for?"
"And I, as always, am ready to oblige," I murmured as I kissed her neck.
Sat in the living room with Zoe, I looked up when Sophie came out of Riley's room. She walked past us and into the kitchen. There was some noise and she came back out with a mug of something that was steaming and smelt relatively of lemon. She sat on one of the other sofas.
"You alright?" I asked her.
She tried to say something but had to clear her throat before she could talk. "Screaming all night isn't the best thing for your throat." I raised an eyebrow at her. "Never mind," she blushed.
"Riley?" I asked. Her blush deepened. "I'll take that as a yes, then."
"It doesn't bother you?" she asked, looking up through her lashes.
"No. Not really. He always makes you happy, and he takes care of you. That's enough for me. Though it is slightly creepy."
She laughed and shifted slightly.
"How have you been?" she asked me, and the look in her eyes told me what it was about.
"Clean. Mainly," I added.
She nodded. "Riley told me."
"I imagined he would."
"You know, I have one of Ayesha's cubs," Sophie said, looking up at me again.
"I didn't know that," I whispered.
