To my shock, the dinner goes by with any incidents. My parents seemed very impressed with Lou, complimenting his look, how respectful he was. I mostly stayed silent during the entire evening, just listening and watching my parents take interest in my Boyfriend.
An interest they hadn't manifested for me in years. But I'm not jealous, I don't care about their approval...
The evening went smoothly too, my father even opening a bottle of wine and offered us some, which we accepted. The thing tasted foul, I think I'll stick with Jack, Lou however seems to like it.
It was past midnight when they retire to their bedroom and we did the same, spending the night at my place for the first time. At least Lou wasn't pumped with hormones so we actually rested.
I turn around in the bed when I notice he's no longer there...
"Lou?" I ask sleepily, my question meet with silence.
I stand up and see the door open and light coming from the floor above us. Wondering where my boyfriend is, I leave the bed and climb the carpeted stairs.
"Hey there Lucas." My father says in a low voice that I can still understand. I don't go up any further. I lean against the wall and listen in.
"You're already up Mr. Walker?" Lou says yawning.
"I've had work to do. And please, call me Gabriel. You know, I'm glad you came up, I
wanted to speak with you."
"What is it?"
"You know, at first we weren't sure if Grey really had a boyfriend or it was something he had made up."
"What do you mean?"
"Well... I'm sure you know about our sons condition."
"Condition?" Lou asks, confused.
"We love our son, but he's suffering from a bad case of schizophrenia, which has dug a trench between us. Maybe he told you, but he's been seeing the ghost of his previous girlfriend everywhere... "
"Yes. You see, the event really traumatized him, we tried to get help but he refused it..."
"Wait... Skip the chase, what exactly do you want from me?"
"We'd like you to convince Grey to accept medication, for his sake."
Lou stayed silent for a moment, I consider going up when he finally speaks again.
"Wow... I can't believe this..."
"Believe what?" My father ask reluctantly.
"That you orchestrated all this just for that."
"I do understand, Grey doesn't need it! He's fine, he's doing great in school, he's a nice guy, he doesn't do anything bad. So why does it matter?"
"He sees things that don't exist!"
"What makes you think they don't exist?"
"There's nothing there!"
"Nothing you can see. Have you ever seen Grey? He knows stuff he never could have know, he can feel people's emotions, see what happened in the past. Yes, he sees ghosts, he sees Mary because she's there!"
He doesn't wait for the other to reply and walks off, in my direction. When he sees me, he declares "We're leaving come morning."
