JOKER

Kyiiko, for some reason I cannot begin to fathom has moved me out into the cottages. Actually, I lie, I know exactly why, he wants my room for Aquo. Plus, the top floor of these damned things are finally done, though still a bit mouldy, which means they can be utilised. Yay, I get a new, unimproved, musty, smelly, dingy room! If you didn't guess that wasnot sarcastic. At all.

Needless to say I'm not so happy with these arrangements, but it could be worse, I could be sharing with the kids. Lorr forbid if that ever happened, strangling them if they annoyed me would be the least of my worries. I bet Kyiiko would make me change their beds, read them bedtime stories, sing lullabies to them, let them sleep with me when they had nightmares and all manners of other stuff.

“Joker!” The shout brought me out of my pissed musings, luckily I hadn't had very long to dwell on my misfortunes before the call came so that was one thing to be thankful for. However, this meant that Kyiiko or Razi wanted me for some ridiculous amount of work and they weren't prepared to wait. Sometimes I wonder whether leaving Siyura was worth this.

It definitely was by the way.

“Coming!” I shouted back wearily, pushing myself up of the bed. And yes, it is a proper bed, which is the only bonus with the new room.

I headed down the stairs lazily, I should run but I don't feel like expending that much energy around about now. I haven't had much free time over the past few days, and yes, I include sleep in that 'free time'.

Passing Joed, I made my way to the front door which had been left swinging gently in the breeze I rolled my eyes and shut it, knowing he'd just leave it open again, he had no concept of 'cold' or 'someone might walk into the place and steal something from it'. You can tell he's been a 'kid' for a while.

Joy upon joy. Do you know what I see as I push the heavy door of the foyer open? Beny and Kris having a pillow fight in this massive thing made of duvets, chairs, stools, blankets and an expensive vase I remember Razi getting from this toplight woman. I'm pretty sure there's something more in the gesture since I've started to see Razi sneaking out like Aura these last few nights. Naughty naughty.

Kyiiko is the owner of 'Longtiere of the Rose' a place of refuge for the 'kid'-slaves he saves. Money's a little tight but that's no bother, the 'kids' are happy and his benefactor 'King' supports him. And then the new 'kids' start appearing on the market, brought from across the Roaring Sea, straight from Siyura. No-one knows of the cruel, harsh land home to beauty, terror and gods except for Joker, for that is where he was born.
